Hello everyone! š
Its February! Oh my this year is going so fast! But I'm so excited to be sharing my top 10 favourites of January. This is a bit of a random compilation of things that I have just been loving using or wearing!
Since Valentines day is also round the corner I thought it could be a great idea to share my favourites as they may make the perfect gift for a loved one this month! As some of you may know, this year I am trying to be more aware of my purchases and the waste I am producing, so not all of these items are available to buy from your regular shops but I'm excited to share them anyway! Hope you enjoy ! š
š A dash of gold - Back in December I ordered a Missoma gold choker and it is the most delicate and the most gorgeous necklace I own, by far. Now I know I ordered it in December, but it does count as a January favourite of mine as I've been wearing it more and more this month and am simply just falling more and more in love with it.
This choker somehow manages to add such a lot of style to an outfit without trying (and actually gives the illusion I tried when putting my outfit together)
They also look so gorgeous when layered with each other. I know this item is a little on the pricey side, however with many a good discount code I ended up paying just under half the price which in my opinion is a definite win for buying something new and substantial.
Normally I hate spending a lot of money on one item, but I really don't have anything else like this and I know it is going to last me a long time. I should also add this is probably the first and only necklace I have bought from a retail shop in over a year and this year I do NOT plan on buying anything, other than necessities, from regular shops. I will be shopping second hand for the rest of the year! If you'd like to get one simply click on the picture and it will take you straight to the choker!
š Something for cold fingers - As most of you will know, in the UK our Winters are utterly freezing, and this year I found myself without gloves, and literally needing them. I don't know if its the adult in me but I was seriously torn between just buying some new ones or going second hand. Lo and behold I found, the most gorgeous fluffy gloves on Depop.
I came across a lovely seller who allowed me to make a good deal on these gloves. They are unreliably fricken soft and were originally by the brand 'a.n.a - A New Approach' I have honestly been wearing these near on everyday, even when the sun is out, because its still a little cold, and these are just too soft to not want to wear. The picture on the right is from Primrosedoe 's Depop shop, if you'd like to see what else she has in her store ill put the link in the photo! I really can't stress enough how good it made me feel to buy something second hand too, knowing that I was doing my bit by not just buying new and the seller even said she was so happy to not be just throwing them away but actually seeing someone else getting use out of them! Which seriously warmed my hands and my heart!
š A treat for the skin - Over the past few years I have had a lot of problems with my skin, from redness to dry horrible skin that is sore and just, a whole meme of little problems. I have always been wary of buying face products online and from smaller businesses as my skin can be quite sensitive I never know what might set it off. However I am so glad I started where I did, not knowing much about skincare I went through the internet googling the perfect routines and products and WOW! There is a lot of things that are recommended and a lot of steps. I was looking for a simple routine that isn't going to strip my skin and kill me, but then I stumbled onto the cutest website for a small business. The Ilex wood is a gorgeous online shop that sells Hand crafted herbal beauty products and focuses on natural properties to help correct imperfections in the skin. I loved this, they use all natural ingredients to ensure that there are no strong chemicals entering your skin or overly stripping it.
I ordered the Rose & Frankincense face cream and it is so amazing. It has a mix of oils that melt into the skin as soon as they are applied and trust me a little goes a long way without clogging your pores. I only use this once every few days to avoid excessive oils in my face as I do have some oily patches, but this cleared up my dryness and didn't cause me any irritation! Click the link in the picture to take you straight to their shop! They have some gorgeous little gift sets that I think could be perfect for your loved one on valentines day! My items came super quickly and I could not be happier with them.
š Washing your skin - This product fits in with the one before as this is a moisturising facial wash which is 100% soap free by Simple. I have had a lot of bad experiences with simple before, their makeup wipes bought me up in rashes and their facial creams gave me huge bumps under the skin that were so sore! However this face wash came so highly recommended to me that I thought about it and decided I would give it a go and I'm so glad I did. I exfoliate my face using a charcoal scrub at least 3 times a week so this face wash is a good gentle wash for my skin without overly stripping it.
I chose to purchase mine from a local shop rather than online because I wanted to reduce the carbon footprint and the whole shipping and delivery process seemed somewhat silly to me when I could nip to a shop and pick it up. I also found that it was cheaper for me to buy it in Wilkinson. The photo link on the right will take you to google shopping where it shows all different places you can buy this from.
If you're thinking of gifts for a loved one you could always put together a little skincare hamper for them, including some of their favourite products such as a face wash, face cream, nail varnish. A little pamper kit is something that can be quite easy but so appreciated as it can be tailored to anyone.
š Organisation! - I always hated using diary's and bullet journals, but last Christmas I got a diary for the first time in a long time and I have actually been using it! I have been writing my little deadlines in it, for when I want to finish certain poems buy. Admittedly I haven't stuck to my own deadlines because I need to be a lot more strict with myself and NOT go shopping, when I know I've scheduled myself a writing session. However, I have been using it to write when my blog posts need to go up, appointments, Instagram post schedules, and generally just to keep track of a few little things.
Now I haven't gone crazy I know you can't get someone a diary for valentines day, but I know a few people feel like they simply fell into the new year and want to get organised so you could get them a nice journal to start bullet journaling, and a few sticker sheets from an Etsy shop, or most charity shops carry some crafting items such as; Stamps, Ribbons, buttons and lots of little embellishments that you could compile into a little box. Together these could make an incredibly cute little crafting gift.
š Pet care - Those of you who follow my personal Instagram will know that I have a little pupper - Dart. He commonly walks with a harness and his last one, was just not cutting it, it was flimsy and really didn't fit him well. So I decided to invest in a really good quality one.
The pictures I have aren't that great in showing off the harness, because Darty is an impatient little man, but from these you can already see how sturdy the harness is and how well it holds him when he moves away. I went off their measurements and I did find the first I ordered didn't fit, so I do recommend going one size up when you order. The link to this harness will be in 'Sources' at the bottom!
I know this one can't be made into a valentines gift, but for those of you who are dog mums and dads, you know how important it is to look after your pet and give them an occasional treat and honestly, this harness is such good quality, I have found that Dart enjoys his walks a lot more with this harness, he doesn't pull as much and seems a lot more relaxed when out and about.
š Scalp care - I know this one sounds weird, who honestly thinks to take care of their scalp, well before mid January, I didn't. I have always had problems with my scalp, the same as my face, red, sore, dry skin - so on. But this year it got way worse, verging on my family thinking it is a form of Psoriasis. However after a lot of looking around online, reading stories and so on. Also do not judge me for looking online for answers, it is incredibly hard to get a doctors appointment and last time I went I did not get a lot of help with my scalp. I wanted to try and see what remedies I could find that were more natural than medicated shampoos. I also did a lot of looking around at what can naturally reset the PH Balance for your hair.

So I have been using an Apple cider vinegar and water rinse, on my hair every couple of days and when I wash it. I made sure to use Apple cider vinegar 'with the mother' and I found that Aldi actually carry this apple cider vinegar for £1.99 for 500ml which is A LOT cheaper than online. I use a half and half mix in a spray bottle and squirt it all over my head, massage it in a little and then leave it in to dry, trying not to rub my scalp too much. Its honestly helped my scalp so much.
Although I wouldn't recommend getting someone bottles of apple cider vinegar for Valentines day, you could get them natural shampoo bars, conditioners, make them up a bottle of this scalp rinse mix, arrange it really nice in a box with a few flowers and voila a gorgeous little personalised gift.
š Home decor - One word, blankets! I have been absolutely obsessed this past month with blankets and throws to add a dash of colour to a room. I have found some really gorgeous ones around my local charity shops and even on Depop. These also make amazing gifts, you could fold it really nicely with a ribbon and a pair of slippers as a cosy little gift for your partner. Throws and blankets also can look really amazing as display items, whether its draped over a table, over the end of a bed, wrapped around a pillow. They all add colour to the room and add a little touch of cosiness to a romantic night in.
They are all my favourite items from January, I hope some of them could inspire you for valentines day and some of you will try them out for yourselves, if you like them let me know how you get on with the products mentioned and feel free to tag me in any of your posts with your opinions or new products I can try!
As always, thank you for reading - I hoped you enjoyed! Feel free to leave a comment, like or reach me on social media!
I hope you all have a lovely day,
š Stay smiling
