Hi everyone! 🌼
Thank you all so much for voting over on my Instagram stories! The vote really was so close but in the end a decor haul won, so this week's blog post is a home decor thrift haul! I'm so excited to share with you all of my thrifted finds.
Now everything featured in this post is not my entire collection, this is only the thrifted finds within my bedroom! I have other rooms with other pieces that I'm really excited to share with you later on. I'm thinking of starting a YouTube channel and doing a larger haul over on that sometime soon.
Just a quick disclaimer - All of these items were acquired before lockdown or after lockdown measures were lifted. I was safe when getting these items and followed the correct precautions needed to ensure my own and those around me safety. I do not encourage you to go to a thrift store right now if not necessary and if you do not feel safe then that is fine. I would not want to put anyone at risk. There is also no judgement within this post if you don't feel comfortable buying from a charity shop that is fine it is just my preferred place to shop.
All products I could find online I will link below in the 'Sources'.
In this post there will be:
🌼 Scarves
🌼 Glassware
🌼 Wood
And so much more, I really hope you like this post and as always feel free to comment, like, share and you can also find me over on Instagram where I post about my artwork and sneak peaks of the weeks blog post! All of my links are at the bottom of the post and as always, stay smiling! 🌼
So without further ado lets get to it!
🌼 Scarves 🌼
Now I know what you're thinking, why am I putting scarves into a decor haul? Well I know a lot of people who don't buy bedding or blankets from their local charity shops because they are worried about hygiene, but they will buy scarves.
I do buy blankets and bedding, basically anything a charity shop will sell, I'm sure I will purchase and my partner can definitely attest to that. I ensure, especially now that all thrifted items go in the wash together and a disinfectant detergent is used to just make sure they are all clean and ready to be used. You can also opt for leaving them in a bag for a few days to ensure all corona virus germs are completely dead but I prefer to give everything a wash or wipe over with an antibacterial agent.
Anyway! Scarves are a really great thing to buy from the charity shop as usually you can find some really large ones for a couple of pounds or even pennies. I use my scarfs to drape over the end of my bed or on a chair, this really helps to add texture and style to a room without having to splurge on an expensive blanket.

Pillows are also an amazing way to add dimension and a personal touch to a room. You can get bandanna's and scarves and wrap pillows in these and its a really easy way to personalise the space without spending lots of money!
The pillow at the back was actually a great charity shop find for £2 including the pillow and when I looked online one very similar was £15.99 on Ebay and that was the cheapest and closest I could find. The smaller one on the left I embroidered myself from some scrap material and the one on the right is a bandanna I had laying around, but I really love the effect it gave.
The scarves were between 50p and £1.75 each and the mustard blanket was £3 and when I looked online the most similar one I could find was on AliExpress for $24.39!
🌼 Blue Glassware 🌼

Anyone that knows me knows I have a big obsession with blue glass - especially glass bottles that are old and to me, purely lovely pieces of decor.
I love glass for so many reasons, it shines beautifully when light comes in, they make cute little decor pieces, you can get all different kinds of stained glass and my personal favourite is this gorgeous green blue.
I have hordes of these bottles and they were all between 20p - £1.50 and in my opinion they were an absolute steal!
As you can see I have a few! Don't think this is the whole collection because I have a whole bunch that I decided not to include because I simply wouldn't be able to fit all the pictures in! These few are my favourite ones because of their colour, size, texture and imperfections.

I love standing dried flowers in these, or even using them to propagate new plants in, they are lovely to use as decorations and really add a subtle splash of colour to a dark corner. When looking online it is hard to gauge a price for what these would've been because they differ so greatly but all it takes is a search on Etsy to show some bottles like these are selling for £15 a piece!
Jars and bottles are one thing that I really love I even convinced my partner to let me use his window sill as storage space for a few that I simply had no more room for!
🌼 Wood 🌼
Wooden pieces are one of those things that I never really like buying from a charity shop as wood is so porous I worry that germs will get deep inside and I'll never be able to get them out, but there are some pieces you can't help but pick up!

This was one of my favourite DIY's that I haven't shared yet and it was so completely worth it. I sanded, bleached, stained, filled, added new handles. This piece had the full works.
The green and white are pieces of pottery that I smashed and glued then filled around. I love the effect it gives off and its one piece that I will truly treasure. It cost me £3 and the pottery was gifted to me, as were the door knobs and I already had the filler and sandpaper.

This piece is essentially 100% custom and there will never be another piece the same because of the way it has been personalised. I remember seeing this in the shop and saying "No what do I need another set of drawers for." And we left the store without buying it!
I went back the next day and a family were looking at it and for 5 minutes my heart sank until they walked away and I rushed back in to pick it up.
That is one of my favourite things about thrifting! You know if you leave it and are thinking about it, that means you genuinely want it and this piece was too good to pass up on.
Another thing I love picking up is wooden cheese boards, now this did come with a plastic dome but I had no use for that so sent that back to the local charity shop!
The first picture shows the colour this was, it was not my colour at all, it was a deep mahogany colour and it was just not for me, but as you can see I sanded and bleached the piece to make it a much better colour. It then had a deep grove for the dome to sit in but I didn't like the way that looked so I added a black rim to finish it off. I decided to make a copper plant stand and this was the perfect base to put on it before putting all my dried flowers on top!
I always get wooden frames from the charity shop, I sanded these both back because they were initially the same mahogany as the cheese base. I decided to put some flowers and a poem in these because I just loved this natural look and they were super cheap at 50p each. Ones similar to this are £5 in Dunelm.
And lastly for this category is a candle dome, now I have seen these with the candle in from Sainsburys for £14, but I do not like the scents of the candles.

I know this isn't exclusively "Wooden" but the base is entirely wood. I couldn't help but make this cute little scene with a glass guinea pig I had and some crystals. I think it looks so cute and it sits really nicely along with my pop vinyl's and pictures on my desk.
This was only £1 as the ball on top does have a small chip but I turned that to the back and you can't even notice now!
I also got the wooden music box that I did last weeks DIY project on for only £3 which was a huge bargain considering it was in such good condition! If you haven't already I'd recommend checking out that post because It truly shows how you can transform a piece.
As always thank you all so much for your support, a comment, like, even a read means so much to me! I hope you loved this diy as much as I did, if you decide to recreate yours the same tag me over on Instagram @thefoxsfern I'd love to see what you come up with!
I hope you all have a lovely evening and a bright weekend,
