10 of the warmest ways to keep Autumn alive! šŸ

As Spring starts to emerge here in the UK, I can't help but wish for my favourite season to come back - Autumn. For me Autumn is the best time of year, the days are still long enough to complete the needed tasks, before winter banishes us to darkness.

Here are my top 10 tips for keeping Autumn alive and thriving in your household! Whether its the slow colding weather, the deep oranges and reds of life, or the chunky knit's that make you love this season. These are my few little tips in how I keep it alive! And throughout the next few weeks there will be many DIY's on how to incorporate these top 10 tips!

šŸ Nature! - To me, it is so important to bring some of Autumn in from outside. Pine cones, sticks, leaves, even branches! I know what your thinking and no I haven't gone crazy! It is so important to harvest the natural beauty around us. These are my favourite things to decorate with. I managed to get a hoard of pine cones that a neighbour had planned on tossing. We have to be more Eco friendly and I'm sure you'd agree that natural beauty is better than a group of ornaments that will get tossed out at the beginning of the new season!

šŸ Layering! - Whether its jumpers and t-shirts, fluffy socks on cold toes or blankets on blankets! Layering is one of my favourite techniques to use year round, but especially in Autumn. The contrast of colour and texture really creates depth and when combined with neutral tones it gives this wonderful feel of complete cosy captivation. I like to use a base colour, such as a deep red, burnt orange, or yellow, then layer different textures, such as woollen, woven, fluffy, smooth, even pillows on top can enhance the overall appearance.

šŸ Scents! - These are the warmest things you can love year round, but to me a flickering candle is everything Autumn. Carefully placed, deeply coloured candles are an amazing way to open up a room and captivate colours of Autumn, but the scents are something that will make the room come to life. I personally love my organic Mocha candle in the colder months and the 'Gingerbread' scented candle at home bargains is to die for! Ofcorse there are other methods of spreading wonderful smells throughout the home. The 'Glade Luminous Apple Spice' is an amazing room spray that fills the whole house with a super fresh smell that will last all day.

šŸ Music! - I found that listening to Lofi and Cafe Jazz this Autumn was not enough! So I decided to create the atmosphere my ears were craving by layering my music. Find a good 'Rain' playlist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ9RgW8MrKA&t=1499s This one is my favourite so far and set the volume in this down to around half. Then take any song and layer it in a new link. This creates a real depth of atmosphere that is perfect for those comfy evening vibes. You can alternatively do this with a crackling fire instead of rain, it's just my preference.

šŸ Colour Pallet! - As previously mentioned in the 'layering' section of this post, colours and textures can be a great impact to achieving those super cosy vibes. I really love the use of burnt oranges, deep mustard yellows, creams, black, white and browns this time of year. A splash of gold jewellery also helps completely warm up an outfit and enhance those colder months. A few subtle colour adjustments within outfits can really change the overall feel of an outfit. I personally love layering a t-shirt over a high neck, long sleeve t-shirt or even a thin turtle neck. It adds an element to the outfit that has more of a grunge style, but I really like this overall look at this time of year.

šŸ Tartan! - Autumn is the prime time for tartan it is one of the main styles of print that adds an amazing visual texture when it comes to this time of year. It offers many colours and warms up every area in subtle ways. Whether its a couple of pillows, bunting, leggings, or even a piece of material on a table, a little piece of this beauty scattered around can be so impactfull and add such warmth to a room.

šŸ Drinks! - There are a rare few drinks that I particularly love when this time of year rolls around and boy is it hard to give them up when the season is over! My favourite of all - A good unhealthy mug of hot chocolate and I guarantee my boyfriends recipe is the best of all!(Check out next weeks blog post on how to make this killer drink)

Another of my favourite is chocee (Hot chocolate & coffee) Your regular amount of hot chocolate with a teaspoon of coffee! How could you resist? If your a coffee drinker you can also add to it, such as using a small amount of cinnamon, candy cane, or even a cheeky segment of chocolate orange melted into it! The last of all, a drink I (Thank God) Discovered when I was ill this past December. Honey and Lemon water šŸšŸ‹ Simply take a cupful of piping hot water, add a lovely thick slice of lemon and add a big teaspoon of honey. Then stir it well and add some cold water till its ok to drink! This recipe was amazing when I had a cold and sore throat, a glass before bed really helped keep me warm and ease my throat.

šŸ Home made goodies! - Not food guys...Well not yet. Homewear! I love arranging things in my home to fit the mood and the season. Homemade, Eco friendly, recycled ornaments, really add to the rustic feel of indoors, bringing in the season from outside. Whether your personalising something to fit the season or making it from scratch, it can really add depth to an area enhancing that overall feel. Adding natural tones from organic home made pieces are more Eco friendly than buying new pieces and then tossing them when they no longer fit. By using the natural matter harvested earlier it also means that the items will be compostable and better for our environment.

šŸ Food! - Home baked treats give off an amazing scent and a warm note throughout a home. My favourite things to have home made in the old months are cinnamon rolls, cookies and a home made fruit bread. My sister's cookies are the only ones that I will eat home made now, they are the embodiment of Autumn for me and I have personally requested she create a video on how to do it! Another strong favourite of mine is a stew, as soon as Autumn rolls around you can bet there is a hearty beef stew in our slow cooker.

šŸ Entertainment! - My favourite game to play at this time of year is Harvest Moon, I know this is an odd one, but when that sun starts to set in game. My heart thumps Autumn. As for TV shows and Films, I have a few that to me I must watch every Autumn.

šŸ Perks of being a wallflower

šŸ Good Will Hunting

šŸ Breakfast Club

šŸ The Sinner (Series)

These are only a small selection of things I love to watch at this time of year, especially the second and third films. I don't know what it is about the age of these films, but the colours really scream Autumn to me and the simplicity of the stories that completely captivate me just make the perfect things to watch.

That's it for my top 10! I hope you love them and choose to implement some of them into our own homes to keep Autumn alive in the new year! For anyone who wishes to find my sisters amazing cookie recipe head over to her Youtube channel where soon there shall hopefully be a tutorial!
