Hello everyone! 🌼
Welcome to another creative writing extract. For those of you who have read my previous creative writing extracts you will know that these extracts are part of a larger collection of extracts, inspired by “Creative Writing” by Eva Katz. The book has a combination of beautiful artworks and prompts for writers to explore a new side of themselves and to explore methods of writing that we possibly hadn't considered.
This particular extract was written by me inspired by the picture below, created by an artist Mary Lou Zelazny. This artists work is so unique as it is a compilation of different textures and tones, not to mention colours that all come together to adapt a natural image and make it completely abstract but still honestly gorgeous.

The piece to the left is her beautiful artwork that my prompt is written for and it's seriously such a captivating piece with so many colours, textures, lines, features and even more that I could look at it for hours and still struggle to find words that can truly captivate its essence. I will link her website in the "Sources" below, along with the creative writing book if you'd care to look or purchase!
The prompt for this piece is 'There are so many things happening in this picture. Describe what's going on in at least three sentences where most - or even all - of the words are alliterative.'
Sultry shores swirl, surrounded with subtle spirals,
Spreading through skies sprayed in suspicious shades of space.
Perfectly placed patterns layered with life,
And longing lapping tides transformed by texture trying to trance eyes,
Evermore entranced over sheer clouds shadowed with sand.
She sits stone, scattered self, stranger to sound,
Scared to try taking a breath,
Of breeze beneath a broken breast,
Burdened by a boiling beast.
Carefully caught in her core,
Captured cowering curled,
Discredited, diseased and disbelieved,
Disregarded in despair,
Radiant ruin ran to the shore,
Line where lies are left behind.
Blue burns backed by blackened,
thoughts torn through trying times.

As always thank you so much for reading! This one was definitely an interesting one to do, there were so many things you could write about or ways to interpret the image it was hard to fix on one idea! I also found the alliteration somewhat difficult, but it actually reinforced challenging myself and I have fallen in love with the little poem I came up with!
I hoped you enjoyed! Feel free to leave a comment, like or reach me on social media! 🌼
