Hello everyone! š
In this post I will be creating 3 gorgeous wall hanging pieces out of some very simple materials. This items I am going to make into wall hangings were found whilst thrifting and the materials I will be using are simply scraps I had laying around the house and a few pieces I had been saving for different DIY's.
So today I will be turning a few copper rings into some gorgeous minimal spring wall hangings. I will also include links below to where you can find some items like these, but I do highly recommend visiting your local charity shop and picking out some goodies yourself!
Disclaimer, I am using real leather in a couple of these DIY's- However, they are leather scraps that my partner had and these pieces that are left were purely going to be thrown away and rather than waste the material I wanted to re-use it. I do not agree with the process of creating real leather or endorse it in any way, I just thought it would be worse for the leather to go to waste and the animal have suffered for this in anyway.

I found a pack pretty much identical to these at the local charity shop for £1.50 and it had 2 different sizes in. The ones I found were actually supposed to be used to make a tiered light fixture, but I currently have all the lighting I need so I decided to make these into some wall hangings!
The picture on the left is a stack of wreath rings that could work perfectly for the DIY's I will be doing and they will be linked below in the 'Sources' section.
The first and by far the HARDEST thing to do was to figure out how I was going to lay them out, what designs I was going to do, and how was I generally going to turn these into minimalist spring decor.
Firstly I took one of the smaller hoops and decided on some materials I wanted to use and for this DIY you will need:
š Scissors
š Hot glue š Leather or material of your choice š Flowers (Dried or faux) (Optional
š Yarns (Different complimenting colours)
So for any of you who read my DIY a couple of weeks back, I did use real leather and in this DIY I am also using real leather. It is not bought by me, it is simply leather scraps that my partner was getting rid of and I really didn't want it to go to waste. I decided to take a scrap of leather and cover the middle circle with it.
The original idea was to use the pompoms from a couple weeks back and glue them around the edge of the leather and actually I did do this, but it was genuinely hideous. Sometimes DIY's do not work out how you intend and it was less minimal Spring, it was more...Autumn mess.
I used hot glue to stick my raw edge down on the back of the design, ensuring that it was tightly pulled around the middle wire ring. This meant that the leather was quite sturdy and wasn't crumpled in anyway. Unfortunately I completely forgot to take anymore photos of my process here as I struggled to think of a way to save my pompom coated mess.

So here I used some left over flowers from a past DIY and glued them to the edges of the circle to hide the copper wire around the edge. I did this in a pretty random way, I was just going with what I thought looked right.
Then I got a little bunch of flowers together and wrapped some white twine around the stems of them to keep them together. The hot glue also stuck this to the leather and actually gave quite a strong bond.
To hang this up I just popped it on a nail in the wall and voila it actually stayed there.

My second wall hanging is super easy, involving only a little bit of wool in the colour of your choice, some hot glue and of course one of the wire rings from before.
This DIY is actually more simple than before and literally took me a few minutes to complete. It is more of a minimalist piece but I really love it this way and when placed next to the other two it really completes the set.
So here I simply gathered my wool, you could use string or embroidery thread if you prefer, it was just handy to use wool for me. I unravelled a fair amount of it just so I didn't have to keep stopping when I was wrapping it around the ring. I knotted it to the inner ring and glued it a little to ensure it was held in place.

I knew I wouldn't be messing around with mine much once hung so I only used regular hot glue, if you need a more permanent fix, you could also use E6000 glue or some gorilla hot glue sticks as they are amazing. I then wrapped the wool tightly around the inner and outer rings, ensuring I covered the knot I made to attach the wool in the first place, I started off doing an inch section at a time. I decided not to measure the sizes out perfectly as I really wanted a more natural home made look to my design.
I decided to then repeat this in between the little rods holding both rings together with the white wool. Once I had done this I had an almost completed design, but it did feel like it was missing something vital and I really didn't like the look of the rose gold rods sticking out. Whilst I thought about what colour I was going to use next I left a long end on the white wool on the right hand side and pulled this over to create a hanging loop for the wall hanging. I simply bent it up to where I would want it to hang from and cut it off long enough to glue to the other side.

After thinking about it I decided to go with a coloured wool to add some visual interest within the design, repeating the wrapping motions from before to create dimension within the piece. I went with a burnt orange, although it seemed to show up more brown on camera, I really love this colour as it works really well with the leather of the previous piece.
Then I just continued wrapping until I had finished. Of course you can wrap the whole thing if you wish or only wrap a couple of pieces on the ring I just did it the way I thought would look nice with the other wall hangings.
I actually didn't take a picture of this one hung up like the last, but stay tuned to the end to see how it turned out! I didn't hang this one on a nail like the last as it didn't need that much support, I used a tiny piece of tape to hang it up!

The last wall hanging is another super simple DIY using our left over ring, wool and the flowers I had left from earlier! These DIY's really focus on using the supplies to the best of their potential.

I started off by picking up my bigger twine, this is actually really thick its about 8 strands to a piece of rope, so its quite thick. I did the same as previously, where I knotted the rope to the inner circle and wrapped it around and around 9 times, I pushed it down a little each time to ensure it was pulled tightly together.
I then decided to make some tassels for this simple design, and to do this I measured out a few lengths of my rope at 10cm long or abouts.

I then took two of the lengths of rope and separated the individual threads from each other, keeping them all straight and together.

After separating the two lengths I bent the threads in half so I could see how long my final tassel was going to be. I then took a small thread from the bunch, pinched the fold together and tied it with the strand I had removed. This created a gorgeous wavy tassel. I repeated this step two more times, but on the other two I decided to use the burnt orange wool from earlier to tie the knot to create the tassel. I then glued them onto the rope I had woven around the centre of the copper circle.

I then decided to make some more tassels for the bottom of the ring to add more dimension and a more bohemian texture to the design. I took a couple of the flowers from earlier and simply weaved the stems through the wool, creating a lovely little floral element and adding a dash of colour.
I really love the vibrant purple lavender and the mustard yellow of the centres in the white flowers as this goes really well with the burnt orange wool I have chosen to use. The contrast of the straight lines in the wool and the wavy strands of the threads really add a lot of texture to the design, especially to a plain wall!

And that is the 3 designs all complete! I decided to hang these over my bed as it was a blank white wall that needed some warmth and dimension! I hope you loved these DIY's, they were really fun and easy to make and I'd love to see if you guys try these out or take inspiration from them!
As always, thank you for reading - I hoped you enjoyed! Feel free to leave a comment, like or reach me on social media!
I hope you all have a lovely day,
š Stay smiling
