From Waste To Good Taste - A first step to being Eco friendly this year!

🌿 Below I have one way that I absolutely love to kick start my recycling for the year! Towards the end of last year I really got into the habit of making myself aware of ways I can be more Eco friendly, but this method is something I have followed for many years.

It is estimated that over 900 million Christmas cards are sent every year in the UK and I know my family contribute to that number. So this is my way of reusing and reducing my waste for the new year!

Here is a small handful of the many cards I managed to gather from family and friends, in hopes of putting them to a better use! This first way is a little DIY that anyone can do at home! Myself I grabbed a stack and did this at night in front of the TV. Making it one of the easiest ways to save on waste.

Tags! Every year I find that when it comes to wrapping presents I always. Always! run out of gift tags, this is a great way of saving a few pounds and getting ahead for next year's rush. And most cards can be used for birthday gift tags too! For this little project you will need the following!

🌿 Scissors (or Guillotine)

🌿 Hole punch

Optional:

🌿 Ribbon

🌿 Glitter

🌿 Template (Something to draw your shape out of)

I personally chose to not use a guillotine, but I did use a template for one of them to show how it turned out!

Firstly select your card. I decided to start with a glittery card and selected my tags by planning out where I would cut them out.

Then you start creating your home made tags!

Here I made two with just a rustic/natural cutting style, but then decided to use a template (A pencil sharpener) Which gave me a really neat and professional shape.

These are my final 3 shapes I decided to go with and to finish them off I simply punch a hole and finish the tag off with some twine to achieve the real rustic look!

And that's it! This little DIY is super easy and really useful for reducing that waste! Over the next few weeks there will be plenty more DIY's on Christmas cards and how to transform them into amazing things that are 100% eco friendly! 🌿

Thankyou so much for reading!

As always

🌿 Stay Smiling!
